I have had people ask me why I don’t show what I look like on my Facebook or Instagram accounts. To which this is my response….the things I write and share have nothing to do with the way I look. The things I write come from my heart and soul. So why would I attach the image of myself to it. This body is not who I am, it is not what defines me. The things I believe, the things I feel, and the things I write that is who I am. I want the world to see me for who I am and not just what they see in a picture. There may come a time when I step out and show the world what I look like, but only when the time is right.
I don’t even understand why we put so much emphasis on what we look like. Why does our appearance have to speak for us? Why do people assume just because I don’t want everyone to know what I look like I must be hideous. Why can woman only be smart or pretty but cannot be both? The body we’re wearing is just a body for our time here on this earth. It is not who we are, it is not what we are. Spirit is our true form, it’s who we are. So please let’s stop being so focused on the superficial stuff and start to see the beauty that lays within all of us.
